Kimberly Denise Jones, known by her stage name Lil 'Kim, is an American rapper, musician, actress, model and reality TV personality. Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, she spent most of her teenage life on the streets after being kicked out of her home. As a teenager, Jones played freelance rapping, influenced by other female hip-hop artists such as MC Lyte and The Lady of Rage. In 1994, she was discovered by fellow rapper The Notorious B.I.G., who invited her to join the group Junior M.A.F.I.A.; Their debut album, Conspiracy, created two of the top 20 singles in the United States and was certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America. Lil 'Kim's debut studio album, Hard Core, was certified dual platinum, has since sold more than six million copies worldwide and produced three hit singles: "No Time", "Not Tonight" and "Crush on You". His follow-up albums, The Notorious K.I.M. and La Bella Mafia, also certified platinum.
