Diego Armando Maradona is an Argentinian professional footballer and coach. Recognized as one of the greatest players in the history of the sport, he was one of two to collectively win the FIFA Player of the Century award. Maradona's vision, passing, ball control and dribbling are combined with his small size, giving him a low center of gravity allowing him to move better than most other players. His presence and leadership on the pitch has a great influence on the overall performance of the team, as he is often eliminated by the opposition. In addition to his creativity, he also possesses a hunter's eye and is recognized as an expert in free kicks. Gifted with talent, Maradona has been nicknamed "El Pibe de Oro", a name that has accompanied him throughout his career. He also had a troubled life off the pitch and was banned in 1991 and 1994 for drug addiction.
